Getting started

Your account, your setup and the offer.

What do I need to get started?

Start by checking that your equipment is supported. In VPPiQ Home, create your account, connect the supported provider accounts and confirm your household equipment and electricity tariff. Add an EV connection if you want supported car charging.

Then review your planning preferences, reserves and permissions. Available data, device readiness and your Intelligence settings determine when automated actions can begin.

What does it cost?

New households receive 30 days of full access to the features available for their setup. The subscription is AUD $9.99 per month after the trial. Review the offer and account terms in VPPiQ Home when you sign up.

Do I need an electric car?

No. Household and battery planning can work without an EV. If you have a supported car, you can bring its charging goals into the plan. Available features depend on your equipment and connections.

Your home and equipment

Current connections, practical limits and future intentions.

Current connections

FoxESS solar, inverter and battery systems · Optional Tesla EV connection

Exact model, firmware, account access and available controls still need checking. Additional vendors are future intentions, with no release dates announced here.

Which batteries, inverters and cars can connect?

FoxESS is among the first supported solar, inverter and battery connections. Tesla is among the first supported EV connections. Support still depends on the particular equipment, firmware, account access and controls available through the provider.

Sigenergy, Sungrow and GoodWe connections are in development and are not available to connect yet. Broader EV brands are planned. Confirm your exact setup during onboarding or contact us before relying on automated controls. Tesla vehicle support does not mean that every EV charger has its own direct integration.

Do electricity pricing and device compatibility work separately?

Yes. VPPiQ Home can use connected Amber pricing or a supported, confirmed retail tariff. The tariff tells the planner about prices and time windows; the device connection determines which equipment readings and actions are available.

Confirm both during setup. A retailer appearing in a tariff catalogue does not mean there is a device integration or commercial partnership with that retailer.

What if my equipment is not supported yet?

More inverter, battery and EV integrations are intended. Sigenergy, Sungrow and GoodWe are in development; additional EV brands are planned. None of these are available to connect until implemented and validated, and no release date is promised here.

Tell us your inverter or battery brand and model, and your vehicle if relevant. We can discuss the current fit. Please keep account passwords and device credentials out of your enquiry.

03 / Know the plan

Learning and planning

How your home informs the plan, and what the settings mean.

How does VPPiQ Home get to know my home?

Planning uses available household energy history alongside weather, electricity prices and your settings. Usable data coverage and device readiness affect when automation can begin.

The app shows your home’s progress and anything that needs attention. Missing data can extend learning; it is not a promise of an exact calendar date.

Can I see the plan before enabling automation?

Yes. Preview Mode lets you see the plan without automatically applying its device actions. Full Automation permits supported actions when readiness, permissions and plan checks allow them.

Review your current Intelligence state and onboarding choices in the app. A generated plan does not, by itself, mean that it has been applied to a device.

What do the four battery planning modes do?

They change the trade-offs the planner makes. They are separate from whether Intelligence is off, previewing or allowed to automate.

  • Balanced weighs economic value, use of your solar and reserve protection.
  • Preserve Battery favours lower battery activity and reserve protection.
  • Maximum Profit gives more weight to economic opportunities within the allowed limits; the name is not a guarantee of profit.
  • Custom lets you adjust supported planning preferences, starting from Balanced.
  • Every mode remains subject to your permissions, reserve settings and equipment limits.
What happens if data or a device connection is missing?

Missing information can limit planning or prevent a new plan from being activated. In some cases VPPiQ Home can use a labelled historical estimate or attempt a simpler checked plan. The app’s status and warnings matter.

A failed update does not prove that an existing device schedule has stopped. Check the current device and plan status, and contact support if a connection or action needs attention.

Are the savings shown in a plan guaranteed?

No. A plan uses forecasts and assumptions; it is not a guarantee of delivered energy or bill savings. History and outcome views use recorded evidence, with data coverage and comparison baselines affecting what can be concluded.

A requested action, a provider accepting it and a confirmed device response are different stages. Keep estimated value separate from measured results.

04 / Understand your prices

Prices and tariffs

Time windows, free energy rules and the terms you confirm.

Can VPPiQ Home account for seasonal tariffs and daylight saving?

Supported confirmed tariffs can include time-of-use rates, seasonal rules and overnight windows. Planning uses the home’s configured local time zone, including daylight-saving changes.

Check the dates, time windows and rates during setup. Special terms, such as public holidays, need the relevant information; not every retail condition is automatically supported.

Will the battery always charge during a free period?

No. A free period is an opportunity the plan considers alongside solar, household demand, battery space and later needs. It may not be useful or possible to charge for the entire window.

Where a supported free allowance has a cap, home use and EV charging can share that allowance with the battery. Eligibility, earlier usage and available measurements affect what remains.

How does planning handle demand windows?

The planner can account for supported demand windows and limit battery grid charging during them. Available stored energy may help reduce grid demand, within reserves and equipment limits.

Grid import may still be needed. Demand-window handling is not a promise of zero demand charges or a quantified reduction in your final bill.

What should I do if my electricity plan changes?

Review and confirm the new tariff terms in VPPiQ Home so planning uses the correct prices and windows. A catalogue refresh does not silently replace your confirmed retail tariff.

Connected price feeds and confirmed retail tariffs work differently. Check which pricing source your home uses and keep your confirmed terms up to date.

05 / Ready for your day

EV charging

Charge targets, departure times and achievable outcomes.

Can I set a charge target and a ready-by time?

Yes, for supported EV setups. You can give Smart Charging a target charge and ready-by time, using recurring or one-off goals to fit your routine.

Keep the car connected and the goal current. The plan depends on available charging power, connection status and the time remaining.

How do the EV charging profiles differ?

Fastest prioritises earlier charging. Solar Preferred favours expected solar where practical. Lowest Cost favours lower-cost charging opportunities while planning around the goal.

Solar Preferred is best effort, not a solar-only guarantee. The charging profile cannot create more available time, sunshine or charging power.

What if there is not enough time to reach my target?

A late connection, limited charging power or changed departure time can make a target infeasible. The plan may only be able to deliver part of the requested charge; it cannot guarantee the target regardless of those limits.

Review the available charging window and target in the app. If your plans allow, connect earlier or move the ready-by time later, then review the recalculated plan.

06 / Stay in control

Manual control and help

Make a change, return to automation and understand what happened.

What happens after a temporary battery override?

A supported temporary battery action has a duration and a saved schedule. When it ends or you stop it, VPPiQ Home attempts to restore that saved schedule.

An outside schedule change or a connection problem can require attention. Restoring a schedule is separate from enabling automation; check the action result and Intelligence state.

Does stopping Smart Charging also stop the car charging?

No. Stopping Smart Charging hands back automatic control while preserving the goal. It is separate from a supported physical Stop Charging command.

Switch off Smart Charging before using the supported manual start, stop or timed charging controls. Resume Smart Charging when ready to recalculate from the saved goal; it may choose a later charging window rather than start immediately. Supported temporary actions can have their own return behaviour, shown when you review them.

How can Mia and History help me understand my energy?

Mia can help explain household energy information and prepare supported changes for authorised confirmation. It is not unrestricted permission to control devices.

History helps you review recorded energy and outcomes over time. Check data coverage and whether a value is forecast, provisional or measured. For a setup or connection question, contact our team.
